Orange Shirt Day? What is that?
Well, Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come. Many people are unaware of the history of Residential Schools and the impact these had on the Aboriginal Cultures of Canada…Orange Shirt Day is a small step towards acknowledging this part of our history and working towards reconciliation. Officially, Orange Shirt Day is held on Saturday, Sept. 30th, but due to a Pro-D Day and the weekend, Brantford will be acknowledging Orange Shirt Day on Thursday, Sept. 28th. We encourage everyone to wear Orange that day.
